Stories @ TCAT

On January 14, 2016, Bill Walsh with Jeffries Manufacturing Solutions visited TCAT Jacksboro to deliver an award from the Gene Haas Foundation. Mr. Walsh presented a check in the amount of $15,000, which will be used for student scholarships enrolled in the Machine Tool Technology program. The scholarship funds will be used to provide additional training resources. The funds will also support continued implementation of credentials through the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS). The credentials are awarded on satisfactory completion of both performance and related theory exams.

In 1999, Gene Haas founded the Gene Haas Foundation. Haas Automation Inc. is America’s leading builder of CNC machine tools. Mr. Haas’ commitment to the importance of United States manufacturing greatly benefits students pursuing careers in manufacturing. To date, more than 38 million dollars have been awarded by the Gene Haas Foundation. Mr. David Yassemedis, Master Instructor, submitted the grant application. Students from TCAT Jacksboro and the twenty-seven TCATs across Tennessee have benefited greatly from the Gene Haas Scholarship program.
