The tourism and travel industry leads the future as one of the largest growing career sectors not only in Tennessee but in the country. Graduates of the Retail, Hospitality & Tourism program will have the essential skills needed to enjoy a career in the vacationing and tourism industry and have the potential to earn 13 nationally recognized certifications. Students will develop skills in creating the customer experience, providing guest services, marketing, engaging customers, operating retail businesses, leading operations in hospitality services, and offering customer services in tourism, travel, and attractions. Possible career opportunities may include hospitality leadership and management, marketing, operations of tourism services, event planning, operating retail businesses, managing lodging, arts and culture, attractions, and recreation events. Students enjoy an active role in their learning by completing practical experiences with project-based activities and hands-on training, using office technology, completing work-based learning activities as well as developing work ethics, interpersonal skills, and professional skills.
